Rumours have been rife on social media in recent weeks about a possible collaboration between Supreme and Maison Margiela. As it turns out, it is MM6, the casual contemporary line created in 1997 by the avant-garde label, now owned by Italian fashion group OTB, that has teamed up with the New York streetwear label for the latter’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection. The collaboration features 15 items between apparel and accessories, and will be launched on March 28 in Europe and the USA, and on March 30 in Japan and China.

Supreme has joined forces with MM6 for its Spring/Summer 2024 collection – Supreme®/MM6 Maison Margiela

This partnership with a designer label will enable Supreme, a cult, skateboarding-inspired brand that was acquired by US group VF Corp. in 2020, to strengthen its connection with the luxury sector. A connection that in the past produced highly successful collaborations with the likes of Louis Vuitton and Comme des Garçons. Supreme is broadening its footprint on the Asian market, where it opened a first store in Seoul last year and, more recently, its first store in China, in Shanghai, the 17th operated by the New York label worldwide.

The new collection is a clever combination of sophisticated designer style and streetwear influences, with the occasional flash of the Supreme logo’s distinctive orange hue. The collection includes a range of womenswear and menswear items, from more formal outfits like a three-piece suit, a shirt and a faux-fur coat, to streetwear classics like t-shirts, hats, hoodies, shorts, a patchwork varsity jacket, a sweatshirt, painter trousers with a metallic finish, tank tops, and socks, the latter developed with Hanes.

The range is completed by an array of quirky accessories, including a blond wig, a chain with padlocks, and a skateboard. The collection will be available on the two labels’ sites and at select stores.
